7 Days Samburu - Aberdares - Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara Safari

Safari highlights. This is a safari geared towards wildlife enthusiasts. If you are looking to see loads of game, this is the tour for you! Traveling to the big names of Kenya's National Parks, including the Aberdare, Samburu and Masai Mara, you are guaranteed superb game viewing opportunities. In between game viewing, there is a cultural visit to the indigenous Masai tribe to learn more about their culture.

Day 01: Nairobi - Samburu game park. Drive into Kenya's rugged northeastern region, home of the colorful Samburu tribes people. Crossing the Equator enroute arriving at the Samburu Sopa lodge for lunch. Afternoon game viewing drives in this park, which is home to all the major game, as well as some unique species like the grevy zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, gerenuk, beisa oryx and Somali ostrich. Accommodation at Samburu Sopa Lodge. Day 02. Samburu game park. Full day spent in Samburu with early morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu Game Reserve, which covers 40 square miles (104 square kilometers). Samburu is also home to the third of Kenya's giraffe species - the rare Reticulated Giraffe (only found in the Northern parks). This is also where you see the blue-legged Somali Ostrich, the long-necked Gerenuk gazelle and the straight-horned Beisa Oryx antelope. Accommodation at Samburu Sopa Lodge. Day 03. Samburu - Aberdare national park. After breakfast drive Aberdare Country Club or Outspan hotel for lunch.  After lunch transfer to THE ARK or Tree Top Lodge. Spend the night watching animals as they gather at the floodlit water hole. You will find this as a great way to introduce you to your safari. Meal Plan: {L D}  

Accommodation : Treetops Lodge
A celebrity hotel located on the dense forest where the 50 rooms are either single or twin with shared bathroom facilities. However, private or ensuite bathrooms are available on request. All rooms overlook the two waterholes and the peaks of Mount Kenya. Guests under 7 years are not permitted. Night observation of animals at the lounge offers exiting animal viewing with easy photography and comfort.Night visitors expected are Rhinos, Elephants, lions, bushbuck, warthog and night birds.

Aberdares National Park has a diverse topography that includes icy rivers, spectacular waterfalls and rain forests. The flora and fauna is quite unique and is not found elsewhere in the country, expect on Mount Kenya. Leopard, elephant, serval, waterbuck, reedbuck, dikdik, rhino and the rare bongo can all be found here. You are sure to see elephants, buffalos and some other animals at the floodlit waterholes of The Ark or Tree Tops.

Day 04. Samburu national park - Aberdare national park - Lake Nakuru. After breakfast, transfer back to the Aberdare Country Club or Outspan hotel. Then drive to Lake Nakuru in time for lunch followed by afternoon game vieiwng drives. 
Lake Nakuru's claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo's and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here. Accommodation at Chester hotel or Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Day 05: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara. After breakfast depart for Maasai Mara game reserve, the northern part of the Serengeti and one of Kenya's most favored game-viewing areas. It is the Africa of the imagination; endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills. Lunch at the camp followed by afternoon game viewing drives. Accommodation at the camp or Lodge. Meal plan: {B, L, D} 

Day 06: Masai Mara. Full day game viewing drives. Morning game viewing with drive to the Mara River where you will be able to view  the resident hippos and crocodiles. The Mara is the land of African legend; Lion are abundant throughout the park, as are the elephants, giraffes, and a variety of gazelle species and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly seen and, less commonly, rhino. Accommodation at the camp or lodge. Meal plan: {B, L, D}

Optional Hot air balloon ride can be arranged this morning, then proceed with your game drive - $430 per person. Optional visit to Masai Village for a cultural tour can be arranged - $20 per person. 

Day 07: Masai Mara - Nairobi. Morning game drive. After breakfast drive back to Nairobi to arrive around 16.00pm. Meal plan: {B}
